DESCRIPTION:Grounded in Garnock – Networks and Nature \n\n\n\nSometimes we don’t know what is happening when it is right in front of us! Whether it is on land\, sea\, sky\, above the soil\, beneath the soil and within communities around us. The Grounded in Garnock project aims to showcase\, shine a light on and further develop some of the amazing networks and nature within our area!  \n\n\n\nThe first week of the series focuses on stories from the land where we will hear about what is happening in and around the Garnock Valley including updates about what is happening at Geilsland Estate\, the strategy in the region on biodiversity\, the aim of the Grounded in Garnock project. \n\n\n\nWe hope to do this by inviting some of the local folk to come and tell you about what they are up to in our weekly seminars. They will then invite you to join them on a journey into the wonderful world of networks and nature in a 4 hour weekend practical workshop. One that hopes to bring new perspectives about our living world – where the soil breathes\, livelihoods are enriched and everything is connected. We will explore how we relate to\,  influence and respond to the land around us. It is an opportunity to stop\, breathe and look and listen to stories of the earth\, those of the past\, present and future! \n\n\n\nGrounded in Garnock has been funded and created by The Beith Trust and North Ayrshire Council and will take place at several locations within the valley. It is a 6 week series seminars and hands-on workshops which take a different topic each week focusing on exploring and nurturing the living systems we live in. We are looking to maximise the natural resource\, grassroot activities and infrastructure of the Garnock Valley for educational activity.  \n\n\n\nWe will learn about our role in creating healthy\, restored soil for growing\, interconnections between ecosystems; what we can do to help restore land; learn to design for sustainable and renewable energy systems; and finally consider how we can design\, create or get involved in an initiative we are passionate about that leads to a thriving\, sustainable future. \n\n\n\nSessions are open to adults over 18yrs old unless indicated. \n\n\n\nYou can sign up to as little or as many sessions as you wish.Week 3 Seminar will be: Grounded in Garnock – Stories of Biodiversity. \n\n\n\nWe will raise awareness and talk about the causes of the ecological and biodiversity crisis\, how the region is affected\, and how to build resilience. These activities are perfect for getting out of the house and enjoying the beautiful countryside\, organised with Ride 63 and The Trinity Active Travel Hub. Our next ride is scheduled for Saturday November 8th! \n\n\n\nWe’ll meet at 9:30am at Geilsland Estate to get our bikes ready and set off promptly. Each ride will last between 1 and 2 hours\, depending on the weather and the preferences of the participants. Our routes primarily follow quiet country roads\, with very short sections on busier roads. This course will cover a number of different aspects of paediatric first aid\, including but not limited to: roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider\, CPR for babies and children\, choking\, burns\, scalds\, and fractures\, asthma\, diabetes\, and other common childhood emergencies. Anyone over 16 who works with young children\, babies\, or families will benefit greatly from this free course. \n\n\n\nParticipants are assessed throughout the course\, including a multiple‑choice assessment. On successful completion\, learners receive an FAIB‑accredited Paediatric First Aid certificate. The certificate is recognised by the HSE and Care Inspectorate and is valid for three years.

The course is suitable for unemployed parents\, young people (15+)\, school leavers\, people with disabilities and anyone who is currently out of work and looking for support to move forward. \n\n\n\nParticipants will receive tailored support including CV writing\, interview skills\, confidence building\, group work\, and access to online learning such as Customer Service\, Manual Handling\, GDPR and Infection Control. The programme also includes accredited First Aid training and an accredited REHIS Food Hygiene Certificate. \n\n\n\nNo experience is required\, and anyone who struggles with IT\, reading or writing will be fully supported throughout the course. To remove barriers to participation\, transport costs and lunch are provided\, with a childcare creche available on request. \n\n\n\nParticipants will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience at Beith Trust’s Easter Event in roles such as facilities support\, customer service\, event support and childcare. Those who successfully complete the course may be offered an interview with Beith Trust for sessional work. Beith Trust has a strong track record of delivering successful employability programmes\, with many past participants progressing into employment\, further education or volunteering opportunities. \n\n\n\nNew year. DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to offer the Activate Community Development Course at Geilsland Estate — a free\, informal and highly engaging programme designed to support individuals who are interested in making a positive difference in their communities. \n\n\n\nThis 12-week course will begin on Thursday April 23rd and run in weekly 3-hour sessions\, open to anyone aged 16 and over. It is particularly valuable for those working\, volunteering\, or hoping to get involved in community settings. Activate is designed to help participants reflect on their experiences\, build confidence\, and develop a deeper understanding of community work. The course is informal\, participative\, and supportive\, encouraging discussion\, shared learning and critical thinking. No previous experience or qualifications are required — just an interest in people and community. Participants will take part in approximately 50 hours of learning\, with activities tailored to suit the group. \n\n\n\nThroughout the course\, you will explore: \n\n\n\n\nWhat community work is and why it matters\n\n\n\nCore values and principles of community development\n\n\n\nEquality\, anti-discrimination\, and participation\n\n\n\nLocal and global issues affecting communities\n\n\n\nPractical approaches to group work and conflict resolution\n\n\n\n\nAll tasks are fully supported\, and the course is designed to be accessible and manageable for everyone.
