SUMMARY:Monthly Led Cycle - September
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our next block of Monthly led cycles\, happening on the second Saturday of every month! Beginning on Saturday July 8th we’ll be hosting monthly led cycles\, in collaboration with the wonderful Trinity Active Travel Hub\, which is a free programme aimed at getting people out of the house and engaging with our ongoing e-bike scheme. This course is perfect for beginners who are confident cyclists\, but new to using e-bikes. The sessions will run from 9:30am – 11am; leaving from Geilsland Estate we will meander through the Scottish countryside on a lovely\, leisurely cycling experience. Helmets are mandatory and we strongly recommend that individuals wear high-visibility clothing. These sessions are for 18+ years. \n\n\n\nIf you’re interested in coming along you must first complete the following health and safety forms. These are for your own protection and the safety of those around you when on the cycle: \n\n\n\nPre-start Sign-up form \n\n\n\nEssential cycling skills information course \n\n\n\nCycling Safety confirmation form \n\n\n\nBy signing up to this course you are also providing us with confirmation that we may use your details to record our programme and its attendees. DESCRIPTION:???Band Factory returns for our last event of the year!??? \n\n\n\nBand Factory is a one-of-a-kind experience for any young musicians aged 12-18. \n\n\n\nDuring the October holidays\, you will be carefully selected and placed into bands with other young musicians where you will rehearse and hang out with expert tutors and fellow young performers. Rehearsals will take place from Monday to Friday\, leading up to a gig where you can showcase your band’s skills on our main stage! \n\n\n\nBand Factory allows young people to have a week of fun\, learning and socialising\, without distractions; let yourself be absorbed by the music! You will learn the ins and outs of what it takes to be in a band with our expert tutors guiding you every step of the way. \n\n\n\nNo matter what instrument you play\, there will be a place for you – the more obscure\, the better! We have had all sorts of instruments over the years and will make anything work. \n\n\n\nBand Factory allows young musicians to really focus and dedicate a week to music\, allowing excellent progression and gaining bandmates and friends for life. \n\n\n\nYour band factory experience will run from Monday\, October 16th to Friday\, October 20th\, rehearsing each day from 11am – 4pm. On Saturday\, October 17th you’ll be able to show your newly learned skills and showcase your brand new band at our gig night with all your friends and family. \n\n\n\nDon’t hesitate if you’re interested\, spaces are limited and we expect them to book out very quickly! Beginning in November we will be running 4 monthly led cycles\, in collaboration with the wonderful Trinity Active Travel Hub\, a free programme aimed at getting people out of the house and engaging with our ongoing e-bike scheme. This course is perfect for beginners who are confident cyclists\, but new to using e-bikes. Leaving from Geilsland Estate we will meander through the Scottish countryside on a lovely\, leisurely cycling experience. Helmets are mandatory and we strongly recommend that individuals wear high-visibility clothing. These sessions are for 18+ years. The sessions will run from 9:30am – 11am on: \n\n\n\n\nSaturday November 11th\n\n\n\nSaturday December 9th\n\n\n\nSaturday January 13th\n\n\n\nSaturday February 10th\n\n\n\n\nIf you’re interested in coming along you must first complete the following health and safety forms. This event aims to raise funds to support the GVPD’s initiative\, providing traditional music tuition for children in the Garnock Valley and keeping traditional Scottish alive in North Ayrshire. \n\n\n\nExperience a live performance by our talented young Garnock Valley Pipes & Drums students\, enjoy the charm of the Highland Dancers\, and try your luck at our enticing raffle featuring many incredible prizes. The night will be alive with Ceilidh music and dancing\, featuring live music from the fantastic Binky Blue. Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start\, and we’ll be wrapping up at 10:30pm; plenty of time to grab a taxi!  \n\n\n\nOur fully stocked bar awaits you\, and a dedicated children’s area ensures the little ones have a great time too. Feel free to bring your own snacks for your tables\, or indulge in the delicious offers The Munchy Van will be bringing along! SUMMARY:Safeguarding Training
DESCRIPTION:Free safeguarding course coming to Geilsland! \n\n\n\nWe all have a responsibility to help keep children\, young people\, and vulnerable adults safe in our community. Beith Community Development Trust understands that many people in local communities worry from time to time about potential abuse\, harm\, or exploitation of someone in the local area. It can be confusing to understand as it is not always easy to know exactly what to do when you do see or hear something of concern. \n\n\n\nOrganisations like Beith Trust\, which consistently work with children\, young people and adults\, must ensure that they have safeguarding policies and procedures in place and be able to respond to child or adult protection concerns. It is important to us that we offer an opportunity to adults (16yrs +) at the heart of our local communities and ensure those who take part learn foundation skills that increase confidence in responding to\, or in reporting a concern. This free evening session will be held at Geilsland Estate in Beith and delivered by Caron McLean\, former Head of Protection at the University of Strathclyde.  \n\n\n\nCaron McLean \n\n\n\nCaron lived in Beith for over 40 years and left school to help in her parent’s garage (Gerrie’s) before graduating and spending many years carrying out child and adult protection work in local authority areas across Scotland. Caren brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and will take time to work through the issues that worry you the most about children or adults who may have been harmed or are at risk. Caren will provide guidance on what we can all do to help and will work with you to answer questions like “Can a child can be left home alone?”\, or “How would you know if an adult is being neglected or abused?”. \n\n\n\nTimes\, dates and bookings \n\n\n\nThe session is set in a relaxed\, informal style for learning that welcomes all. By the end of the session\, everyone who comes along will have strengthened existing skills or will\, for the first time\, know how they can help to get it right in protecting people in the place we all live or work. \n\n\n\nWho should Attend: \n\n\n\n\nParents and caregivers\n\n\n\nEducators and school staff\n\n\n\nCommunity leaders and volunteers\n\n\n\nAnyone who works with children or vulnerable adults\n\n\n\nAnyone interested in learning safeguarding techniques\n\n\n\n\nRegistration and attendance are completely free and we’ll have teas and coffees available throughout the evening. DESCRIPTION:Band Factory is making its triumphant return in 2024! Our most anticipated music experience of the year is back\, and we’re thrilled to invite you to a week-long musical extravaganza from Monday\, April 1st\, to Friday\, April 5th\, running daily from 11 am to 4 pm. \n\n\n\nCurious about whether Band Factory is the perfect fit for you? If you’re a young person aged 12 to 18 who can play any instrument (yes\, even bagpipes!)\, then you’re exactly who we’re looking for! Starting on Monday\, April 1st\, you’ll be welcomed by our team and the fantastic Pryde Kilwinning\, who will be your mentor throughout the week. Following introductions\, your bands will be formed\, and the next couple of days will be spent crafting your setlist\, practising\, and jamming with your newfound musical companions. The grand finale awaits at our showcase event on Friday\, April 5th\, where you’ll perform the set you’ve worked hard on throughout the week. \n\n\n\nThis is a fantastic opportunity for young musicians to not only showcase their talents before a live audience but also to forge connections with like-minded peers. Who knows\, you might even become a part of Garnock Valley’s next big band! Many successful musicians and bands have emerged from our Band Factory project\, and you could be the next success story. Don’t miss out—secure your tickets now! Limited spaces are available\, so we recommend booking as soon as possible. The full week of activities is just £20 per person. \n\n\n\nJam sessions will run daily from 11am to 4pm\, and the showcase event is scheduled for Friday\, April 5th (exact time to be confirmed). Remember to bring a packed lunch for your jam sessions or\, if you prefer\, grab a bite at Mocha Jaks. \n\n\n\nWe’ll be capturing the magic of both the jam sessions and the showcase performance with regular photos and videos. Assessment is ongoing with continuous observation and questioning throughout the day. Successful participants will receive an approved First Aid certificate from the FAIB (First Aid Industry Body)\, valid for three years!
