Garnock Valley Pipes and Drums are collaborating with Live Music Now Scotland for a fun, interactive session for young children with Scottish songwriters Michael McGovern (guitar) and Josie Duncan (voice). This dynamic duo brings folk-inspired songs and heartfelt stories to life, creating an interactive and musical experience that children and families can enjoy together. It’s totally free to attend and recommended for ages 3 – 7 (A parent or guardian must stay with the children during the event.) Book your free space below!

Based in Glasgow, Mairi and Katie bring a fresh and engaging approach to traditional Gaelic, Scots, and folk music, creating an immersive experience for all ages.
Through Live Music Now Scotland, they aim to connect with audiences of all backgrounds, making music an accessible and joyful experience. In this special workshop, little ones will be introduced to the beauty of traditional tunes through fun, interactive performances.
About the Musicians
๐ถ Mairi McGillivray โ Hailing from Islay, Mairi is a Gaelic singer and fiddler with an impressive musical career, including being a finalist in the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2023 and a Danny Kyle Award winner (2021). She has performed at Celtic Connections and released her debut EP In My Mind to great acclaim.
๐ป Katie Allen โ From Callander, Stirlingshire, Katie grew up deeply rooted in Scotlandโs folk music tradition. As a d/Deaf musician, she is passionate about accessibility in music and has been learning British Sign Language (BSL) to translate songs for audiences. She has performed at major events like Strathspey & Surreal and Bruce 700.
Both musicians joined Live Music Now Scotland in 2023 and have dedicated their work to sharing music with underrepresented audiences, ensuring that everyone can experience the magic of traditional music.
