Looking to build confidence, gain new skills and move closer to employment in 2026?
Weโre running a free employability course for unemployed people living in North Ayrshire, running Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10.00am โ 2.00pm at Geilsland Estate, Beith, KA15 1HE. The course is suitable for unemployed parents, young people (15+), school leavers, people with disabilities and anyone who is currently out of work and looking for support to move forward.
Participants will receive tailored support including CV writing, interview skills, confidence building, group work, and access to online learning such as Customer Service, Manual Handling, GDPR and Infection Control. The programme also includes accredited First Aid training and an accredited REHIS Food Hygiene Certificate.
No experience is required, and anyone who struggles with IT, reading or writing will be fully supported throughout the course. To remove barriers to participation, transport costs and lunch are provided, with a childcarecreche available on request.
Those who successfully complete the course may be offered an interview with Beith Trust for sessional work. Beith Trust has a strong track record of delivering successful employability programmes, with many past participants progressing into employment, further education or volunteering opportunities.
We are delighted to offer the Activate Community Development Course at Geilsland Estate โ a free, informal and highly engaging programme designed to support individuals who are interested in making a positive difference in their communities.
This 12-week course will begin on Thursday April 23rd and run in weekly 3-hour sessions, open to anyone aged 16 and over. It is particularly valuable for those working, volunteering, or hoping to get involved in community settings. Activate is designed to help participants reflect on their experiences, build confidence, and develop a deeper understanding of community work. The course is informal, participative, and supportive, encouraging discussion, shared learning and critical thinking. No previous experience or qualifications are required โ just an interest in people and community. Participants will take part in approximately 50 hours of learning, with activities tailored to suit the group.
Throughout the course, you will explore:
What community work is and why it matters
Core values and principles of community development
Equality, anti-discrimination, and participation
Local and global issues affecting communities
Practical approaches to group work and conflict resolution
All tasks are fully supported, and the course is designed to be accessible and manageable for everyone. On completion of the course, all participants will receive a guaranteed interview for the BA Community Development degree at the University of Glasgow. There is no obligation to progress โ the course is available as a standalone experience โ but the opportunity is there for those who wish to continue their learning journey.

Garnock Valley Pipes and Drumsย are collaborating once again with Live Music Now Scotland for a fun, interactive session for young children with the fantastic Juliette Lemoine & Chris Amer! Two exceptional and accomplished new voices on the Scottish music scene, Juliette and Chris together explore traditional Scottish music with originality, energy and depth. Recent highlights include their headline performance at Celtic Connections (2024), performing at London Jazz Festival (2024), and supporting folk supergroup LAU at Kings Place, London (2024).

Join us for our upcoming Led Cycle Rides of 2025! These activities are perfect for getting out of the house and enjoying the beautiful countryside, organised with Ride 63 andย The Trinity Active Travel Hub. Our next ride is scheduled for Saturday November 8th!
Weโll meet at 9:30am at Geilsland Estate to get our bikes ready and set off promptly. Each ride will last between 1 and 2 hours, depending on the weather and the preferences of the participants. Our routes primarily follow quiet country roads, with very short sections on busier roads. Please note that participation is limited to 5 people per ride, so be sure to secure your free ticket early to guarantee your spot.
